Earth is the 5th season that falls in between seasons, typically it facilitates the transition between Summer and Autumn, a time known as High or Indian Summer. It can start in the last weeks of Summer and last into the first weeks of Autumn
It is our only Element that is neither Yin nor Yang and its energy is neutral. It does not move upwards or downwards or outwards or inwards like the other Elements, it is solid, stable and grounding, like Mother Earth.

The key themes for our Earth season are Nourishment, Nurturing, Grounding, Stability, Support, Balance and Connection. Our Earth Element invites us to connect with our centre, the core of who we are
Like Yin and Yang, there are in balance and out of balance manifestations of our Earth Element and in our emotional body they would look like Contentment or Neediness, Fulfillment or Worry
The organs and energy meridians associated with our Earth Element are the Stomach and Spleen, they lie in the centre of the body and aid our ability to digest and assimilate not only food, but life’s experiences as well
If your Earth Element is out of balance you will feel a sense of emptiness, neediness and a desire to fill that void from the outside in. This results in feeling dissatisfied and discontent and in the extreme addiction to external sources like food, sex, shopping, drugs, sugar,social media, work, relationships etc
When we are disconnected from ourselves, from the core and truth of who we are, we tend to stay up in the mind, overthinking, and creating excessive worry and anxiety. We can outsource our contentment to others and become needy or resentful when inevitably they don’t meet our needs. When we outsource what needs to come from within, we will always feel discontent, ungrounded and empty.
When we balance our Earth Element we drop out of the mind and into our bodies, we come back to the core of ourselves and live from our grounded and stable centre. When we feel grounded, present and connected to our self and the world around us there is no need for excessive thinking or worry, we know we have everything we need within us and we nurture and nourish ourselves from the inside out. When we know this …..there is no neediness, no outsourcing, no void to be filled.
The Life Lesson for Earth is to learn how to nourish ourselves physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually so that we don not need or crave anything or anyone else to provide it for us

Read books
Eat nourishing food – savour each mouthful and eat consciously, slowly and mindfully

Journal – your thoughts, your emotions, your dreams

I completed Erin’s 5 elements workshop online last year and I cannot recommend it enough!
